The actual answer to your question is that the Guru’s you mentioned are for the most part simply better at what the do. This is then backed up by their incredibly strong desire and single minded ability to pursue what they want. On top of this they are ‘natural’ communicators who then took their natural ability to excellence through sustained effort and training. They have also done the ten thousand hours required to become excellent at what they do. What they do is also an inherent strength.
If you want to charge premium fee’s then you had better be able to deliver a premium experience and a premium result very consistently. You had then better learn the high level skills and tricks of networking (not marketing) and get yourself in front of people with significant leverage and then do a premium job of marketing yourself and your skills to them in a package that hit’s the exact note that they are seeking at that point in time.
98% of coaches make little to nothing. 2% make the lions share, for the reasons stated.
Thanks for your comments Al, I 100% agree with you that the minority make the lions share!
I do have a slightly different perspective on some of your other points. There is no doubt you need to be able to deliver a fantastic experience and great results, but I dont think its essential to do the 10,000 hours or master networking. This is perfect for where I am right now Dan! I’ve already embraced this in a huge way and I’m really looking forward to taking things to the next level at the workshop!
Hi Dan I know this idea works I was charging $60 – $80 per hr for therapies & i was not getting all that good results. I then said I was only going to specialize in just one field, i put my prices up to $249 for 1 1/2 hr session & found i still had plenty of clients but plenty of failures. So i said put the price up to $400 for the 1 1/2 hr session, sure the number of clients went down but the quality of the client went up & the success rate went up experiential so now i am charging $400 with a success rate of 95%.
I also have mates that work in a larger city, put their rates up to $500 per session & the clients still keep rolling in with the same 95% success rate.
Brilliant

Fabulous Dan, and you’re so right – it’s not just about putting up your prices.

Absolutely Nadine, in fact unless you have the other pieces of the puzzle in place, raising your prices WONT work…

Great I’m liking the stuff Dan, don’t think I’m quite positioned for your workshop yet, but when I am, I’ll be giving you a ring!

Thanks Darren. Dont worry about the workshop, its definitely NOT for everyone. Plenty of great content to consume around here in the meantime though!
